Arent these girls so lovely? well. Finally the pageant has come to an end. I am so glad tt despite all the unhappiness preparing this pageant, these 32 girls has forged strong bonding between them. From this pageant, I have learnt how to understand each individual better by forcing myself to listen to them. I have grown to be more understanding and developed to become a very patient person. Thank God for such wonderful experience... for the girls who didnt make it to see the finals, fret not. We have found someone in hope can give us the full video clip. If so, will upload them asap.

Metamorphosis....Introducing KAYLENE

Hey girls!
Its finally time for us to announce to you that we are ready! We are ready to launch our website! Since the March ordeal... We have been asking ourselves whats next for Lavender Closet. Before we could do anything, our current unit has been taken up. With no retail shop and bleak future, I decided to give it all up, pack and go. But we had a major problem, that is the pageant is still on-going. It was then when my sister and Mr Ling decided to help me get out of this drama. Before we know it, we are busy preparing for KAYLENE.

For the launch of KAYLENE, we have been busy like bumble bees! We did brand new packaging, took up a bigger unit (4.5x bigger than current space!) pump up our in house designs, the list goes on... phew! all the time and money into this launch was not a easy feat. And we are ready now....

We are pleased to inform you that from now on, we will be updating our latest news and products via our new website. www.kayleneonline.com!

Do note that we will be doing renovation for the new shop. The last day of operation for current unit #03-136B will be on the 30th May 2010. As to when we will be ready for the new shop, we will update you girls on the new shop opening date!

A quick note before I zoom off to shop... I have been really tied up with work and under alot of pressure to tie things up properly for the new shop, the pageant, the fashion show and the new in house designs. It is overwhelming and am tryin to stay very calm... The new launch is coming up soon and we have tons to do!
But things needed to be done in someway or another right? So i decided to do them one by one...

This is a very important event for Lavender Closet. We will be launching a brand new image for you girls and also a mini partyfor our new shop! We are looking at 4.5x bigger unit to cate for you girls! No more squeezing!

We will also show case our latest collection of apparels to you girls and also the lastest addition to our collections; the gowns!

CONTESTANTS: These are some of the lovely dresses that we have been busy on... More coming on the 20th April. I only plan to do another 15designs before I close my orders because it is very costly as stock and its very time consuming to complete them. As you can see the price I quote is rather reasonable to own. If you are busy to come down, drop me an email is fine as well. The idea is to make sure you girls get PROPER and beautiful gowns. Remember to invest in a good pair of heels. Good heels gives you a great posture for the night. START practicing if there is a need to okay? Some of the girls are pretty lovely and hardworking, they are already practicing their walking (in heels) and has confirmed gowns with us.

For money issues, the usual transaction is half upon confirmation and the balance half AFTER alteration and design. I understand that some of you girls are on a budget. We are very aware of this issue and we decided to allow partial payment. Over the span of these months, you can pay up in batches. This way, you do not feel the pain! But what ever the case is that we have received pretty positive feedbacks! Well, so far so good on this pageant. Of course we have some narrow minded men who says horrid stuff on us, but seriously why frown over tt minority? They do not have any idea tt we are super confident, highly educated and definitely living life to the fullest! Do you know tt the some of us girls actually..

jogs 5km (and is super healthy in her diet. She thinks of creative ways to cook and make it healthier)

is in a dragonboat team (yupyups you read it right!)

The list goes on and on... I face so many beautiful girls and I am so honoured to have them as my friend/customers. So to those 'minors' Please rethink on the comments on us! :D
Anyways, a girlfriend wants me to remind ALL pageant girls... to stay focused. For now, there will be bound to have a lot of critics circulating... As long as we are together and stand firm, we should be fine... :D hip hip hooray!

Yeah girls! We were on papers last Sunday. I must say we were a little disappointed as there were 10 contestants who went for the shoot, only 3 were shown. It would be great if there was a group picture so tt all the girls can show off to their loved ones! I didnt end up in any shoot (because I am sponser?!), I was nicely done up with my hair and long shiny gown! Prolly next time I will upload a pic of my outfit!

About the pageant updates...

Well, more and more girls are interested in this pageant, and I am glad tt we are creating more and more hype on this pageant like the papers etc. The team was great, I have to say most of the credit goes to Erica. She was the one who got hold of the loose strings and pull them back together. We also had a super warm/stuffy but fun charity dinner at House of Seafood. It was super fun to see most girls turn up for this event. We had Nurshiela, Sharon and Alice winning the Best Fashionista Award that night! I was super proud tt the girls dressed up well and looked extremely lovely! Well done girls!

A note to the pageant girls....

As the date is drawing near, more events will be up. During each event, I always sit in a corner and observe these beautiful ladies. The room is always filled with laughter, the atmosphere is super good! Girls made friends amongst themselves, found shopping khakis and even share beauty tips! They are so confident of themselves and I must say even myself, I am impressed! I certainly hope this will be a 'wake up' call to all the plus size girls tt we can be pretty and also have fun at the same time! And stop hiding at home AND baggy clothes! Stop plugging on to earphones and listen music while walking and pretend tt the world dont exist! I will try to post more pictures for you girls to SEE for yourself how happy and fabulous the contestants are!

The pageant is drawing near! Erica has been great in getting things done and I must say I am trying to keep up with her! Tonight, a handful of us will be taking photos and be interviewed by STRAITS TIMES (on Sunday paper) Will reveal more after I am done with the shoot okay?

Just wanna share this with you. Our contestant/customer/friend Karen Foo is conducting a talk on loving yourself, titled 'Mirror Mirror on the Wall' hmmm, let me copy and paste to let you understand this better...

"Who's the fairest of them all? Ok, we know that we aren't Snow White or Kate Moss. What is it that we see in the mirror staring back at us? In this workshop, we take a good honest look at your body in a safe & warm environment. Working in pairs in this all women's hands-on workshop, you will help each other discover for yourselves the beautiful gorgeous body that others see in you. Hey girls,
Its 12.30 am now... checking my emails and clearing some work before I sleep. Then I went to look into this blog and realised that I have kinda neglected it. Seriously, alot of hiccups occured almost everyday and I have a very hard time trying to 'hold the fort'. After 2 weeks of struggle, I am beginning to see some dim light. Well, at least something better than total darkness isnt it?

Hey loves,
I am finally seated in front of my laptop! Well, needed to update you girls on the pageant and more news and happenings in Lavender Closet.

About the night when the girls dolled up...
It was fun! For the first time, most girls turn up and they dressed up to their nines. They were gorgeous, pretty, exudes sexiness in their outfits. I must say, even Mr Ling was impressed with the effort these girls made. I was in my best as well! I wore this toga long gown with a HUGE rose and sequinns from waist all the way down and Mr Ling was in his best suits and his funny skinny tie... Unfortunately, i was unable to snap photos for you girls to see. I think some of the darlings took pictures of them and do send it to me so i can let the other girls see how pretty you were tt night!
A debrief on the night... Well, I was happy to see tt some of the girls were noticing how the pageant girls walked and behaved themselves. I am sure they have learnt quite a bit from the event. As for me? I am v impressed with the participants for tt nights event. From they way I see, they actually BOUGHT their own gowns and they come by thousands of dollars. They also flew from various countries to compete in this. They were totally confident, not afraid of the crowd and whistles and cheers. I really hope when our night comes, it will be equally OR more fabulous than tt! As the full itinerary is will be out soon, I am getting my hands busy on new Lavender Luxe designs HOWEVER....

All hopes were crashed by a stupid mistake my factory made
Alot of loyal customers called to me recently to check if we really produced our products. Because they have seen many designs on other websites/shops. I am not going to name who and where because I felt tt it is unethical to 'expose' them. Not entirely their fault. It was my factory who betrayed me and sold ALL my designs to the public. It was very unfortunate because we paid for the 1st sample piece at a premium price and tons of tweeking and changing before the final product came. ALL these came with a price. and we bore the cost. All because we want all of you to enjoy enclusive designs by Lavender Closet. I must stress tt these designs were specially designed to make us shapier and pretty. I was very devastated to know tt others has been selling and even cheaper. To top it up, some even mentioned tt whatever Lavender Closet has, 'we will have it too, and MORE' Very depressing... Then I started to think about the older batch of plus size online/shop owners. I must say the older batch are more ethical and professional. We work the HARD way to build our customer base and not use underhand means. As much as i am very hurt by this hoo-ha, but we must carry on our lives right?
Anyway to summarise it, we have spoken to factory and has compensated us (seriously, not enough to compensate the total loss). We have stopped our partnership with her and thankfully, we found another one quickly. But we need time to start producing new items. I am very frustrated with the outcome of this because everytime when things seems to be getting better, it slams right smack in our face and we r struggling hard to stand firm. It will be over before you know it, therefore, hang on with me for a while, while we get the new designs up quickly for you to enjoy okay?
(i really do not wish to tell these to all of you initially, if not some of the them will say I am using reverse phsychology to lure you girls to come. But we really felt tt you girls need to know the truth)

No pictures will be up anytime soon because
we felt tt for this collection we really need to protect our designs as much as we could. Lesser designs I must say, but focus is still on dresses I must say :D The shorts are still on sale. only left with the larger sizes like 42-48" can pop by to enjoy the discounts!

Announcement 1: An intimate affair
Finally the plus size bras are here! Not my stocks actually. A while ago, I was talking to Prissy about the bra problem the girls have and the next thing I know, she told me tt she has contacts for bras for the bigger girls! From my knowledge, these wonderful bras are from the same supplier as the Wonderbra, Victoria Secrets. They are sent to USA for sale. Thanks to her good number of contacts, she is bringing in some to help us! Do note that this is a trial try for the bras. If good response, we are looking at more designs and colors! For now, she is only bringing in 40 pieces of the following sizes: 38E, 40D, 40DD, 42B, 42C, 42D and 42DD. Do note tt currently they are only in 2 colors. A nice pastel blue and a classic black. I own 1 each and I must say, they are very comfortable! not joking!, I dun see the bulge at my back and yeaps, been enjoying it! Do let us know your interest in the bra so tt we can make arrangement for fitting okay?

Announcement 2: Miss and Mrs Amazing 2010
YEAPS! I just had a meeting with Beverly a few days ago and we firmed up a few issues! So excited! Ok this is very important for the contestants. Should you girls read this, please spread around to the fellow contestants so that they are aware!

1: We are going to be on television!! A filming company is interested in doing a 3 part/episode series on this pageant and I must say I am very glad! Because we are making it to the main stream! Not to be laughed at and not to be criticised. But to be on stage for the public to see us in our best! For the fellow girls to look upon us, for them to realise tt we may be big in size, but we are strong and beautiful. (tell you girls honestly, as much as my family is not supportive of me doing a plus size biz, because of this pageant they respect my job and finally begin to talk to me properly instead of the usual 'look how big you have grown' etc) For now, we have confirmed that a handful will be selected to interviewed and filmed throughout the show. These girls will be selected through interviews and screening by the casting director. More info will be released on a later date.

2.The full itininerary will be out by mid March 2010. Yeah... I know some girls, as much as they are super excited for the pageant, due to their work commitments, they need to plan properly their work schedule. Beverly just got back from Australia and is tying up loose ends for a pageant in march hence she is busy. But she assured me tt by mid March, she will be able to list down the plan and yeaps! we can arrange our schedule properly!

3. ALL the girls who has registered their application for this pageant are invited to Mrs Singapore pageant tt is held on the 6th March 2010! How cool is that? We are to witness how pageants runs and probably have a rough idea on how we should expect for our pageant! I think it is a wonderful chance to gain experience and know more people! Learn how they talk, carry themselves etc. Do make sure you girls come to shop to collect the tickets at Lavender Closet shop at Far East Plaza #03-136B. This event is strictly for the pageant contestants. Personally I like this arrangement as I think it will be great to mingle around with fellow contestants, chat up with one another and get to know each other better! Do note that you are to dress well, with proper make up and neat hair do. As we now faces of this pageant, it is advisable that we are in our best attire for this event.

4. The pageant will start the ball rolling in April! We are looking at catwalks/fashion show/competition in 2 malls and grooming course by Miss Genecia and also a self awareness talk by a fellow contestant. There will also be events like a group walk to a reservoir or park, and a charity event. Wow! How exciting is that going to be and are you ready to rock?!

5. The 2nd registration for Miss and Mrs Amazing Singapore is finally opened! The registration period is from 20th to 24th Feb 2010.*LATEST NEWS: Organiser has extended the date to 6th Mar'10 This time, we would request all sincere applicants to come down to shop at Far East Plaza #03-136B from 3.00pm-9.30pm for the registration form as well as to submit the registration fee of $30.00 CASH. For this 2nd batch of girls, we will not be able to entertain online registration. The briefing for the 2nd batch of girls will be advised on a later date.

The girls first photoshoot! I am super tired but also super happy with the results. Prissy dear picked me up from Bedok to Boon Lay and drove me n the clothes to the studio. Then her magic fingers started working! From the pictures, I believe these girls enjoyed themselves! BTW, these r snap shots from Prissy mobile phone. I merely did a quick 'poster' of all these pretties to show you what you have missed! Please forgive me on the shabby photo editting, I am no expert and seriously, I have been working for 14 hours straight and am super groggy... What else should I add? These girls sure enjoyed their first photoshoot! Look at how we dress them up! Lovely, but seriously, kudos to Prissy, Must thank her... Without her, this girls will not look so fabulous! In a gist....
Just to inform you tt we are featured in this month's CHIC mag, special feature on PLUS SIZE clothings and shoes! Spot the 4 items tt belongs to us... Did you happen to own one of them? :D
Also, we are featured in Shin Min Papers for the pageant! How cool is tt? I will try to get Mr Ling to scan the pics asap so tt I can post it online real soon! It is 7am and I am awake... photoshoot is on later for the pageant and I am preparing for the clothes for them to wear... *yawn* I tell you, I am having aches everywhere! But still, I will press on!!! Thank goodness I have a wonderful team behind my back, Ruizhen, Gen, Amy, Mr Ling... They all helped me unconditionally in serving customer, tagging clothes,buying dinner for us, cracking jokes when we are about to burst our frustration... I LOVE YOU ALL! but special mention to PRISSY! Thanks to this wonderful customer (yup she is a customer now turned friend), she drove me to collect my parcel from orchard to boonlay to collect my documents, to airport and BACK to Boon Lay! Uber sweet huh? And yeah, she is the appointed stylist for us for this short period FOR the pageant before she flies off. With her expertise and guidance, I am sure the photoshoot will turn up well! Thanks girl, for EVERTHING!
Another important news...
NEW STOCKS has arrived! Many of you girls have been informed tt alot of stocks are sold out... But thank goodness, the new ones are here again! I called up my supplier and asked her for help to produce the new designs which she owed me. Wow! It came! Tons of floral dresses,dresses and some tops for this LAST BATCH of goodies. DO come down and make sure you get them ya?
Special mention to some girls in which i missed. I am very sorry that I cannot attend to you girls personally. I have alot of things on my mind and urgent matter popped up and I need to attend to them first. Do give me a chance again and pop by! I finally have time to sit down and post this to your girls. Sincere apologies on my lack of updates and replies. I am trying to clear all enquiry asap. Please bear with us as we need to be at shop front to serve you girls. Hope you can understand!

A bit on the pageant....
Well, last Saturday the outcome was smooth sailing, we had a few familiar faces popping by to join this pageant and also we have made alot more new friends! It was a bit of a disappointment to know tt some did not turn up. Some were nice and had a courtesy to inform me and I quickly told them about probability on the next registration date (which is expected to be somewhere in mid Feb) I know some of you girls has serious doubt in this pageant, emailed me and asked me alot of question on this pageant and my involvement in this pageant, if I am the organizer and if only Lavender Closet's customers can join/win this pageant... the list goes on! I know we are a small company and many still have doubts in us, I must assure you that we will not abuse our company image as well as integrity on 'scams'. We have an image to uphold and we are responsible to acts tt is made by us. I know there is still a lot of doubts in this pageant... After all, I am ONLY a sponser and not the event organizer, I do not know alot of things. MY key job for this sponser to make sure tt these girls get to wear the best clothes for this event. I promise I will do within my means to get the most information out of the organizer and update you asap on any news ya? :D You are all my beloved girls. I will do all I can to protect you girls and ultimately ENJOY this wonderful experience during this pageant!
Back to the pageant contestants, I will drop the contestants an email soon for the upcoming photoshoot (6&7th Feb 2010). Should any of you girls have questions on this, you can either email me or ask the organizer! :D

Some of you girls has sent me emails on the clothes etc. as of till date, I have replied most emails. Should i have missed out on yours, please kindly send me a email again as I may have missed it out. As for the appointments made and yet still have to queue for the fitting room. I am so sorry about it as well, we will try our best to give you priority to try the clothes okay?

This is the time of the year where it is very possible that I miss out on you girls.
With many girls waiting to try the clothes, snatching over items and unable to come into shop due to the crowd, it is very possible tt I missed out on some girls and could have offended any of you. I am trying my best if I can to attend to everyone. Right now, I am trying to multi-task but once in a while, hiccups does happens. So I would like to sincerely apologise for the errors I have made and caused. Do allow me to have a second chance to serve you again and hopefully you will leave this shop with a smile!

I must say alot of new stocks has been sold out... But do not worry, we have enough PRETTIES for ALL of you! Almost everyday we will put up new items for you girls! I can sense tt it is going to be mayhem as the dates approached CNY, so do come when u r free okay! it is good if you can let us know when you will be coming so tt we can make arrangements. We want all of you to feel comfy in the shop you see..

Opening hours during this peak season...
Kindly note tt we will open at 1.30pm-10pm daily. Should you want to come earlier than 1.30 and later than 10pm, no worries! just drop me an sms @ 94777028 or 90565941 a day beforehand! we will open the shutters for you! We will open the shop until the 13th Feb 2010, 6pm. Should you girls want to come later than tt, special arrangments can be made!
During the festive season, we will close for a few days. Tentative date of opening is 19th Feb 2010.

There is a delay in the shipment of the new arrivals as it's the high peak season, our batch of Chinese New Year stocks may not reach on this week. However, the pretty clothes will definitely be up on shelf by 1 February 2010! Hurray! Still on time for you to celebrate your Chinese New Year in those lovely outfits. Some pictures to entice you! Introducing Yi Ping... Isnt she sweet? I was taking some photos using our mannequin and she was so happy when she saw me! she was like 'I will help you with modelling!' I must say, she is pretty photogenic eh? Oh, in case you would like to know her size, she is about size 2, Approx UK 16-18. She is really tall and hence you may think she is a petite :D

A few happenings going on... must update you girls! Our customer Siti is on Seventeen Mag already! She look so cute and chic! I tell you girls, for those who work in the advertising/media industry, you will know tt many time the features of clothes in mag are being paid for. Long story to explain and in short, for Janice Pidduck of Seventeen to feature our dress is certainly a booster jab! Janice, we will conitnue to work harder!!

Another good update! Please tune in to Channel U next thursday 31 Dec'09 at 9.30pm! Our lovely customer, Dana has acted in the show. She acted as the shop owner! She has also loaned some of her personal clothes (heard some of the clothes were from Lavender Closet! Woot!!) for the show! I really cannot wait to see the show. Finally a show on how us plus size feel about ourselves

Well, heard tt the story plot has a beautiful ending. I realy do hope you girls can watch it and support one another. We may be big, but we certainly can be happy and beautiful. I can name many many customers (Cheryl Ng, Dana, Gillian, Leann, Linda, Priscilla etc) tt I have met and they are super confident. Hello girls! Hope you like viewing some of the newer products shown just below this post. Well, I must say tt many of the items has been sold out... Missy Closet here has been staying up late to tidy up some designs for the next 3months. It is the most stressing part as it will involve alot of careful planning, making sure the cuts are slimming and 'cheating illusions' And the worst of all, the MONEY part. We need to make sure the finances are kept under control and also making sure that after mark up and shipping (naturally we need to make some money :)) will still be affordable to you girls. BUT fret not! This time round, We deliberately postponed our pretty Lavender Luxe Collection because I would like to have all the full collection ready to show you girls to wrap up this beautiful year. I am super excited I tell you! Dresses is still our main theme this time round and prolly will stretch till CNY. Of course, tops and long tops will be sprouting up before you even notice! I will not show you the pictures yet as the pictures were badly taken. I hope to get a better shot before I post them up ya!

LAVENDER CLOSET HAS TURNED 2 yesterday!

It is certainly super amazing tt we have turned 2 and we have grown so much. Thank you girls for the wonderful support you have showered upon us. We truly appreciate your kindness and love. I wanted to do something special for the 2nd birthday but we thought we needed to focus our time on new products and new concept. Hence, I celebrated my 'babys' birthday with a bunch of gal pals. Hopefully we make it to next year and the next and the next... then I PROMISE we will celebrate it IN STYLE!

Oh, heres to the girls who read about us via Facebook. Sorry dearies! Not tt i dun wanna reply your comments! I DUNNOE HW TO!!! i know i am really lousy in this. Please pardon me. I will work on my lousy computer skills and soon we will be able to chat on Facebook as well.

Hello girls...
It's 2.51am now and I was busy tidying up some designs ready for the new collection. (yeah, I draw them but not all, I modify some to make them prettier looking :D) but i GOT BORED... and Mr Ling is not in Singapore and I was reading through ourblog and I realised tt I have been pretty busy till I never update you girls about Lavender Closet and about myself. I know some of you are concern about me hence I will update here ya?
Its been pretty tough I must say... Alot of people thinks having a plus size shop is very lucrative biz.. my gosh, come join me and you will know what I am talking about. Rental is super high (yeah you must be thinking 'then why you still itchy rent @ FEP... I have to la! I need to make sure the location is accessible for you girls ya?) Stocks are getting more expensive, more choices are available via online and through overseas transactions... my gosh, its driving me to the walls! It is really not an easy feat to maintain a biz catering to such niche market and the worst part of all? Constantly being mocked by the public with the 'OMG!! its a shop for F-A-T people *chuckles*' Super annoying I tell you! I get to hear them minimum 7 times a day! Some nicer ones will come in and ask for namecards and then recommend their girlpals or their siblings to pop by. Some annoying ones... Oh my oh my, I dun even think I can tell you what they say in this blog...

I am pretty unsure of what lies ahead for Lavender Closet (dont worry babe, still have quite some time to go before the lease expire) and then times like this I will listen to this particular song 'Stand Up' by Various artises. I know it is a song for cancer patients but i feel tt it is very suitable to how I am feeling... I went to search for the lyrics and I thought how well written this song is. Telling us not to give up, listen to our hearts, press on etc... Go google the song, I bet you will like it too. I would like to mention this to you because I am sure there are times you girls will feel down and really lousy, dont give up on yourself! Okay... I better practice what I preach... I promise I will not give up and continue to strive harder. And to all the fellow 'tong hang'/competitors/plus size owners... LETS NOT GIVE UP! Heck care what people say about us, and just do our job properly in dressing these girls up. It is OUR job to help them STAND up! And before I end this long winded post, Here's to all the plus size apparel/shoes owners.

Hello! Well, not exactly a game... Well, i am pretty excited to inform that Lavender Luxe's partial shipment is here... super happy with the items we have. We are looking at a gorgeous baby pink dress (anyone need a Jie Mei dress in pink? we have!! *waves), our classic in house black dress and now WITH deep red which is super cool when u pair it up with a black belt. We also have this navy blue top which is in chiffon.... and a dress that is so cute... oh fine! I will not continue, you will need to come down yourself to see them! This month we will be stocking up in 3 main batches... tons of dresses for the festive season! Tops will not be neglected babes but I kinda hold the shorts for a while as we need to make space for the other items!! More Lavender Luxe is coming your way! I mean it, we are looking at minimum 12 designs by end of this month! Whoopie! Oh yeah... forgot to mention why the 'game'...
For this collection, Lil' Miss Clossie and myself have decided to try something new. We have decided not to post any items up on blog until much later date. Reason being that we would like to keep them ultra exclusive to our faithful customers and also to the new ones who are genuinely interested in our products. The items are in super limited quantities, price ranging from $33.90 to $85.90. So do pop by girls and have a good look at our fullest collection and try them on!
Also, we are please to inform you that there will be a special promotion going on in the month of December. Still tryin to tie things up together before we announce the promotion!

Hey girls!
How are you? Hope you have been feeling fabulous and feeling good yeah? Life is good on our side, we have been busy (as usual) with new designs, more Lavender Luxe designs, and yeap a new exciting project! Haha some of you may have already known that recently we have been in touch with JTeam for an upcoming movie. We are in discussion to loan them some clothes and prolly some help for behind the scenes. It is also exciting to know tt a few of my customers has been selected to be in the movie! Small roles but still! What an experience!! I think its really cool to have this acting experience and share with the future generations! Just in case, should you girls decides to get a hands on this project, email me i give you the details and see if you are still in time for the audition okay?

Okay, I need to reply some queries which customers has been emailing n asking me... About how is Far East Plaza, Hows sales etc... Thank you so much for your kind concerns girls... Well, moving to FEP is certainly quite a big step for me as you know we have been happy with our little corner in Bugis and very happy with neighbours and rental, naturally is lower, henceforth easier to cover the monthly expenses. When we went over to FEP, I was under tons of stress, people had this 'look' on their face, some mocked at Tinkerbell (she is my beloved mannequin.. so typical) and some petites came into the shop and told me tt they are fat and they want clothes... I WAS LIKE... '??!!??'
Oh well, forget about weird cases like these. Not worth harping about anyways. In terms of sales, I think its the same. Yes, we do have new customers, but we also lost some dear ones whom we treasure dearly as they find FEP a tad too far... so there, summary, there is no 'where is better', To me, to each its own, to each is its own paradise.
Well, I think I have rattled too much and I bet you girls can't wait to see new images before heading to shop. More pictures will be up soon... Go on scroll down to see what we have to offer for you... Oh ya, i forgot this important news... I was reading up on the internet on the latest trend tt is suitable for the big girls... Jackets and blazers is one of the must haves for this season. We have!!! However, due to the miserable size of the shop, we are unable to display them up. Hence should you guys would like to own a nice blazer (we have 3 or 4 designs) please email us. Imagine, a blazer with a cool tank top inside or a long t-shirt with leggings... result? YUMMI!!
Leggings are in as well, so girls, if you girls are interested in leggings, we also have footless in GREY. I like the grey one as black can be boring... Our leggings I must add, is more suitable for UK 18 and above. This is really a plus size leggings, should you have slimmer legs, can try Marks and Spencer or Dorothy Perkins etc. I am sure you will be able to find something suitable.

Well, do pop by when you are free, We are looking at beautiful long tops for some serious party events and I tell ya, the shop is splashed with colours! A little disappointing note though... Shorts are totally out of stocks as my supplier has delayed my order (someone has ordered a container full of stocks from her and she cannot cope with mine) its sad... but still life goes on isnt it? The shorts arrival will be advised again ya? I havn't been replying emails and smses because I got some case of food poisoning, hence I have been resting at home. Still not in my best condition, but has reported to work. So girls, please pardon me if you have not received any replies from me. I will reply all as soon as possible. Well, How have you been? I hope all is good for you! For us, we are pretty much ok too! Well, for today's post, well, I must inform you girls ALOT of things, so I shall put in point forms for you girls okay!

Yeah, I know.. many of you wanna see more of Miss Gillian putting on our new collection for your viewing pleasure... but this time, we decided NOT to show the items online! :D Let her rest okie, she has been helping us alot already... So, until the next new stocks arrive, you will not see pictures uploaded... You are always more than welcome to view the items in shopfloor so see what items we have!

SALES WITH LOVE
Well, we have been pretty quiet these days because Little Miss Clossie and I have been doing something really EXCITING! :D We sell online now, FINALLY! Hooray for all the customers who has been hounding me to sell online (with a interesting TWIST of course!) hee hee. Okay I understand why you girls wanna buy online due to commitments which doesnt allow you to come and visit us. So I was reading a book on how to improve business and suddenly a thought flashed across my mind. I do have some old stocks in which I havent sold them. Initially we wanted to sell in flea markets to clear stocks or donate to charity organasations. But then it dawned onto me that the REASON I open a Plus Size shop is because I want to cater to plus size needs! Do note that that plus sizers come from various family background, some are really in difficult financial conditions, some are students whom doesnt want to depend too much on their family members.. so I thought, if I wanna do a good cause, I might as well do first WITHIN my own circle or friends and customers! I got really excited and called Mr Ling for advice on what he thinks of selling past collection (brand new) clothes with a good cause! Its very simple. The items are all brand new and many of them are sold cost-to-cost. On top of that, being a believer of giving back to the society, we will use 10% of the sales to donate to charity organizations! Mr Ling listened to my suggestions and he simply nodded and agreed that it is a wonderful idea. So in a gist, we decided to open http://www.saleswithlove.blogspot.com with a good heart to cater to customers who wish to own beautiful clothes but with limited budget. For me in return, I get to declutter my store room for a very good cause! I have to stress that they may be old collection but new items.. And if you pair it up well and get tips mentioned for each item, I believe you can have the ultra diva effect too! So hip hip hooray to us plus sizers! Now we ALL CAN really look good too!
For now I have to stress, new items will still be strictly sold in shopfloor as we are not ready to open this market. It is only for the sake of spreading the love then we decide to open up sales with love for you girls. So go one and enjoy what we have to offer!

We may be moving by end August.... Yeah, I know, I said this last yr and some even commented that I was using that as a gimmick to lure customers to my shop. Oh gosh... arent they silly? But yeah, its true. Last week, we all received an sms to inform that our area (CSL/C area) will be going under renovation. Hence we may/may not be relocated to somewhere else. We can choose to stay, we can also opt to leave the place. Mr Ling and I since last week have been under stress due to this. Where can we go? What will happen to us during the one month renovation break? How to serve customers if we are not at shopfloor? Well, all I can say for now is that don't fret girls, we are still around. BUT I need your help. I need you girls, to view blog in mid August to see whats the conclusion and latest news. Also, if you are in the area, do drop by and let us update your contacts so that we can inform you on our latest news via sms or email.

Yeap. states above, LOUD and CLEAR! My sis-in-law and her two darlings has arrived in Singapore from Shanghai and since its been a while since I last saw them, I think I need to close shop to spend time with them!! Amy is out of town... having some serious fun in Malaysia (wei wei!! come back soon!!! I miss you!) So please girls, MAKE sure you do not pop by to shop on Saturday ya!!

Alright on a serious note... I have something to let out of my chest! Its really annoying and i think its time for me to comment. A little depressing, but read on...

A while ago, I had a customer coming in with her boyfriend. She was very shy and wasnt really keen in speaking to me. I tried to warm her up, and all she could do was to smile back at me. Her boyfrend was so sweet, keep encouraging her to try clothes. Her boyfriend wanted to buy something for her. I tried many times to break the ice but she was very reluctant...I tell you, I almost gave up until finally... she spoke. It was just a sentence but it hit me real hard. She told me (not word to word of course. But somewhere along that line)

'I have low self esteem. I cannot find clothes and alot of people laugh at my size and I have a mild depression because of this. Can you help me? I really do not want to be laughed at anymore...'

I tell you, it hits me real hard right smack in my face! I was so hurt by what she is going through but yet I was glad she opened up to me. I told her my experience as well and I realised that we shared alot of common problems. YES. I may be married to a wonderful husband. He never look down at my physical appearence and he told me before that he loves me for who I am. I am very touched by it. But I do have my problems as well. I am constantly 'questioned' by people about my physical appearence. GOSH! whats up!! Naturally, I did slip into a mild depression, mind you! Constantly asking myself why can't I be normal, why must I be slim in order to make people accept me?? I often console myself, and decided to focus on my shop. Because I believe that once I do VERY well, people will keep their tongues to themselves. In order to acheive people biting their own tongue, I worked very hard. I slogged and kept thinking of ways to improve this business. I tell you, its really annoying! Slowly, my friends no longer ask me out as often as before, my husband and me have lesser time together. My mum and dad will call me to ask me if I am ever going back home for dinner, I didnt get to see my ill grandma (i really regret this. Because of the shop, I didnt go to the hospital to visit her while she was still in proper state of mind. I only went to see her when she was unconcscious already.. she passed away shortly after) I was so obsessed with making this business work to make the mouth shut!!!

Another annoying incident....

I was out at a bunch of lovely ladies for some gathering. Friends brought friends and there was these bunch of guys tt came along. I was sitting there listening to music and I overheard Guy A telling Guy B who happens to be a plus size. " Eh, this one (pointing at me), good for you. Why dont you get her number? Meaty Meaty one..." I was horrified when I heard it!!! Well, I didnt flare up and was hoping that the guy will stop. But alas! He went on and on about how fun it will be to see both of the "meaty" us together as a couple! Seriously, I mean whats up with these guys! We are also human and we deserve simple respect, dont we?. Gosh. I left the place in the end quite abruptly, after many attempts to hint to them that I AM WEARING A WEDDING band! I am MARRIED liao! tsk tsk. They just dont get it and keep going on and on...

Why I am telling this on blog with so many people viewing is that I really need highlight to the 'skinny but always say tt they are fat' people, the 'think i am oh so handsome men' and 'haiyo, look at those bums, so young only and their bum so big' aunties... PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK!!! Who wants to be born BIG and only to be criticised by you all? We KNOW we are big, we KNOW we r in risk of health problems (problem conceiving, higher risk of being ill etc), we KNOW we 'occupy' more space in trains and buses... but then look, if you continue to look at us from a different perspective all I can advice you is one word. KARMA. I strongly believe in Karma, what goes around, comes around. It may not be you now... BUT it may be your kids, even your husband-to-be. So while its still early, I really suggest you to re-think your rude thoughts about us.

Now to us BIG GIRLS...

I will be lying if I say I am enjoying my curves. I am oftened by criticised by my own family members as well as my in-laws and friends (imagine a very close friend of mine mocked at my size in front of a guy, I mean, arent you supposed to be defensive for me?) etc... so tiring! But I often tell myself, as long as I know what I am doing, I am not over stuffing myself with food all the time, I really think its fine. I put on weight is due to alot of stress from work and my eating hours is messy. So my dear girls, I do not know how you girls put on weight, and I do not know if you would like to lose weight. Whatever it is, I pray that you really know what you want and know what you are doing, and not do what people want from you. To those who are losing weight, continue to keep up the good work! For those who choose not to, continue to stay happy. After all we are brought into this world to be useful and contribute to the society. We are not here to be upset by hurtful comments by ignorant people. ARRRRR... I am super pissed but feeling better than last night.

Let us all toast to (plus size) womanhood and let us continue to be happy. ALWAYS remember that whatever you do, its for your good and not to others. and that you will be happy with the decision you make...ALWAYS!

Hey girls,
I wanna do a quick post before I start packing up the shoppe... Well, as many of you know that I have gone to the charity flea market. So there I was, having fun, looking out for cool stuff and spotted this little booth with really pretty blings. As a (used to be) jewelry designer, I must say I was fascinated by her craftsmanship and the findings she used. Very pretty and classy. So nice till I actually bought a pair of earrings from her. I wore to shoppe and received compliments too! I dont usually do this but I really felt tt I can do a little something to this blog shop. I was reminded of the past when I was full of zest and energy to show people what I've got. But very often, I was turned down by people due to my young age and inexperience... She really has something very interesting and I like to help her in every little way. So girls, do go and take a look at what she has to offer. Just to inform you tt our Lavender Luxe dress is finally here! So far, the response for this dress is very good. I would like to encourage you girls to try this dress. I know now is not the time to own a dress... but trust me, this is a must have for all girls wardrobe. Its my new LBD (little black dress) for now... and I am loving it!

Let me tell you abit more about this dress. This dress is very simple but alot of work and research has been done to this dress. It covers alot of 'flaws' in which we wanna hide.

Hey girls...
I totally forgot about this post! Its 7am in the morning and I am heading out for a good cause. Well you got it right! I have rented a booth with a buddy of mine (Lurve-ShockPink) to sell away previous collections items. Yes, they are old in terms of trend I admit, but then again if you pair it well with other items like a good pair of jeans and skirt, I must say you still can bring out the style too!

For those who are new to us and even students with a ultimate budget to work on, please come by and support us! ALL items are going from $8-$20 (clearance way below cost price) Do bring along your petite friends as well as my buddy will be selling some petite clothes! For the regular customers I must let you know that the items has been in the shop for a while... its quite a good time to come down to see what we have to offer for you!

Good News need to be shared: As for our yearly effort to give back to the society, we will be taking opportunity of this bazaar. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to charity. As to which charity organization, I am not sure as yet. Will definitely keep you girls posted on this. :D

Hey hey! I am so happy! Today i was checking my email as per normal and I received an email from darling Jiehui. She told me tt we were mentioned in the Urban, Straits Time! I was so excited and called up my sis to confirm if its true... Yeap its TRUE! Although I must say its not alot of feature write up etc in fact I am embaressed cos I am like boasting as though that Lavender Closet has a massive coerage, but I am so glad that Miss Janice Pidduck remembers my shop.

To be honest, I will never expect her to even know my shop. You see... every month without fail, Miss Janice will be seen in Bugis street to find cool items for her photo shoot in Seventeen Mag. Although she has stepped into my shop but we have never spoken a word. Neither was there any feature-worthy items as we are plus size shop. It is so comforting to know that even know we do not communicate, Miss Janice actually remember my shop and the name somemore! Wow! I have to say i am very honored! I certainly hope we will have more features and hopefully more customers will know us and let ALL big and beautiful girls like you and me be ahead of the fashion scene! Okay maybe not ahead la. But at least look good and not frumpy!

Hey girls,
How have you girls been? Well, I would to take this opportunity to apologise to some of you girls because some of you have been coming to visit us when we are still not open.. Its my fault! Well, I have been missing in action because it was my birthday last Tuesday and I took a long break to rest and recharge! My darling friend came from Australia and I took time off to spend time with her... You know girls, Ever since opening Lavender Closet, we have been constantly on the move and 'charging towards our goal'. . even on days when I am not around, I tell you, I am running around getting stocks, running errands and flying meeting various suppliers, seeing new fabric etc. Imagine that I was so busy until i forgot to collect my I/C until 1.5months later (my hubby reminded me!) Hence, these few period, we open at quite late hours. Sincere apologies, now that birthday is over and most necessary stuff is done, we are ready!

Now about stocks, many of you are waiting patiently for my cue to come down for this dress... well, as my supplier told me he has to delay my shipment because of production slow down. Arg... hence the as-promised 8th June, it will be delayed. As to when, not sure (for the dress)
BUT THE GOODS NEWS is that!!! Partial items are here! Many blouses and we are going crazy over vibrant colours! Think fuchsia, electric blue, luscious purple.. oooh yummy! Though partial, but same rules apply, only limited in quantity. Hope you guys can come and visit us soon okay?

Yippee!!! Yup! The bottoms are here. Many of you beautiful ladies have been asking about the shorts and 3/4 pants and now, they are here in the shoppe. BUT please take note that, again, the sizes are very limited. For the shorts, only a few designs have the complete size range, the rest are limited to 2 to 3 sizes only, mainly between 38 to 44. As for the 3/4 pants, the size range is considered complete and we have very unique and beautiful designs this time! Therefore, quickly pop by Lavender Closet @ Bugis Street to try them on! With only 16pieces (per batch unless customer requests) in store, I must say, quite a few ladies have already brought home this yummy piece! How have you all been?

Well, Thanks to Gillian, she specially came down to take more photos for us! More images coming up soon of her strutting her stuff to us! Pardon the bad lighting and photography for now as I borrow Mr Ling's lap top... ya I know, i havent fix up my lap top cos he has been busy... In fact, we both have been! With the kitchen and more touch up for the house, yup, its been a lot of cleaning activity! But then its my beautiful baby tt helped clean up the mess while I am at shop floor serving customers... The 15 minutes of fame for the flower printed muumuus and tent dresses are over! It’s time to seek out your personal style and tell the world about it! There are now many options for the voluptuous fashionista.

The key to selecting a great outfit is putting together a great outfit sometimes risky but simple. Here are a few tips:
The most important tip is to buy clothes that fit.
Don’t wear a piece that shows bulges or rolls. This is unflattering. KISS - Keep it simple sista! Dress in a single color. One color will help to de-emphasize problem areas by elongating your silhouette.
If your skin tone looks great with pink, go for it!
Get vertical! Vertical strips create the illusion of a thinner you.
Wear heels. Wearing at least a 1" heel helps to elongate your legs making you look slimmer. Don’t wear low-rise anything! Very few people can pull this off correctly.

Hey loves, its been a while since we last posted something...
Well, the CNY was a peak season for all retailers and I must say, we have been pretty busy! A few things to update you on the recent weeks... Read on ya?

Complains. Yeah... we had a few complains on our products, slow email replies and lack of new stocks. First of all, I am happy to receive the emails and comments on forums. I will be lying if I say I am not disturbed by the comments. But well, like a lovely friend told me 'Even Louis Vuitton gets complains...' I Kinda admit, we are not perfect. Hence I openly accepted all complains. Should you be unhappy with us for the past few weeks, let me apologise to you now and assure you that we will do better the next time!! We are reall new in this business and Lavender Closet grew so fast till we cannot keep up. Lack of manpower and lack of experience resulted in the hiccup. Sincere apologies to all and hope you will give us a chance once more! :D

Now the good news. Ok, first thing first! lets give all of us a good pat that this year, we all dressed up pretty for the New Year! I have many compliments from customers that they are happy with their purchase and many friends have praised their new make over! Woot! Thank you all for the kind words and encouragements! We will strive hard to do better!! We promise!

Now for the better news! As Lavender Closet is growing day by day, we are finding hard to keep up with our customers! Hence we came up with a PRIVILEGE CARD! We are in the midst of designing and finalising the terms and conditions of this card. Good news to ALL existing customers! ALL of you will automactically have a Lavender Closet's Privilege Card! So what now you may ask? 'Will Lavender Closet be closed for good?' or 'Where is she moving too?' Many of the concern you have been asking me on my progress and updates on this little shoppe. I have kept mum about it because I have been under alot of pressure and I know of some people who simply wish to boot me out of this place. And since I am packing tomorrow, I think its time to tell you all my updates...

I AM RENEWING MY CONTRACT IN BUGIS STREET!

Woot!! I need to explain and you will prolly understand why I continued to take this place...

The story begins like this......

I long gave up the shop in Oct as the small space and exhorbident rental was not favourable to Lavender Closet. Then, I had a good job and I thought maybe I should just fold up and not care about this business anymore. But deep down my heart is in pain, I love Lavender Closet so much. Its like a baby, I see her grow up into a toddler. (sounds very eekish but its true!) Then I discussed with Mr Ling and he told me that he will support me. He told me whatever I wanna do, just go straight. Just make sure that everything is under controlled. I was really hesistant especially the economics down so badly... but slowly, I got a lot of encouragement from friends and neighbours and customers. It kind of build up my confidence level in this area and I decided give myself 1 more yr to try this biz and also decided to take up a unit nearby Bugis Street. I called Far East Management and DANG! The person told me that the unit that I wanted so badly was taken up. Mind you, I have been eyeing that shop for very long. I told her that should any one wants this unit call me so that I can counter offer the price. Unfortunately, She 'forgot' to inform me. I thought she was really very unprofessional but thought since I cannot change the reality, might as well just continue to look for other location. Then I found one!

Its at Cathay, beside Plaza Singapura. I loved that place, its very pretty and classy and I fell in love with the deco of this unit. However, soemthing was telling me to hang on for a few days, and see how it goes. After all, if its meant to be, its meant to be! So after I saw the place I went back to shoppe and tt very day, my neighbour told me about the shoppe is being released by the new tenant! I couldnt believe my ears I tell you! It was like after routing one whole big round, I am just to take back this unit?! I believe in things happen for a reason and I suppose I am meant to stay 1 more year here! Yippiee to many customers!

But renewing this unit didnt make some happy as well. I was quite bothered by it and I think I need to clarify this matter before it blows out of proportion.

I was cleaning up my unit and then one neighbour walked up to me and asked that if I am being ethical by lying to my customers that I am closing the shoppe and that the lovely customers purchase from me due to sympathy. Now that I renew my shoppe lease is like lying to them. I was appalled when I heard tt from her! I calmly told her that I never had such intentions of doing such things. Things happen every day and I cannot be so stuck in the mud. I have to move with the flow accordingly! So I would like to take this time to clarify that should any of you feel cheated, please accept my apologies. I had to keep these under wraps because nothing was concrete until I signed the contract. I didnt want to disappoint anyone and thus the tight lips.

Phew! Feel so much better now. I am glad that you have read my side of story on why I continue this business in Bugis. Coincidental or God's Blessing? You decide! Well there, thank you so much you all for being so kind to me! I love you all and hope you will continue to support Lavender Closet! We would not have made it if you have not supported us so faithfully!
